Our Story

Our History

When Habitat for Humanity International was originally founded in 1976 by farmers in Americus, Georgia, an innovative concept was born – providing partnership housing focused on people in need of adequate shelter. With the collaboration of skilled volunteers and the sweat equity of the homebuyer; decent, affordable homes would be built to elevate entire families from poverty and improve communities.

Greater Fox Cities Area Habitat for Humanity started serving families through new home construction in 1993. Since then, our services have expanded to include home repairs, Rock the Block events, Almost Home guidance and our Appleton Habitat ReStore.

Who We Serve

We offer innovative housing solutions to neighborhoods and families within Calumet, Outagamie, Waupaca and Northern Winnebago counties.

Our Appleton Habitat ReStore location serves everyone in our community, with donated new and used home materials available for purchase. These repurposed goods not only make home maintenance more affordable, but also divert useful resources from the landfill.

Please consider serving within our community by donating or volunteering!

The Need for Safe and Affordable Homes

Every single one of us deserves the opportunity for a better future. No matter who we are or where we come from, we all deserve to have a decent life. We deserve to feel strength and stability day after day. We deserve to know that we have the power to take care of ourselves and build our own future. At Fox Cities Habitat, this is what unites us. Through shelter, we empower.

We understand the cost of owning and maintaining a home can result in making compromises. Many hardworking people face the burden of choosing between paying for housing or covering medical, food and education expenses for their family.

All People are Welcome

Anyone who believes that everyone needs a decent, affordable place to live is welcome to help regardless of race, religion, age, gender, political views or any other distinctions that too often divide people. We do not proselytize. Fox Cities Habitat will not offer assistance on the expressed or implied condition that people must either adhere to or convert to a particular faith, or listen and respond to messaging designed to induce conversion to a particular faith.

At Fox Cities Habitat, who we are, what we do, and how we do it is centered around Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. We focus on the evolving needs of our diverse communities to ensure all people are valued and treated with respect and dignity.
