Speaker's Bureau

Habitat strives to share the message of our mission - that we are not only building houses, but changing lives.  Volunteers comfortable with public speaking are needed to promote our mission and help staff informational and public relations events. 

Brief Description: The volunteers on the Habitat For Humanity Speaker’s Bureau will be trained and provided with Public Relations materials so they can go out into the public and share the message of Habitat For Humanity. 

Responsibilities & Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Habitat for Humanity basics
  • Ability to speak to both small and large groups comfortably
  • Ability to clearly share the message and mission of Habitat for Humanity, both locally and globally
  • Ability to use necessary equipment to do a presentation (i.e. Power point, laptop and projector, etc.)
  • Have the time available to occasionally speak to groups about Habitat For Humanity

Tools to be used by Speaker’s Bureau volunteers include:

  • Habitat For Humanity materials as necessary for the specific speaking/PR engagement.
  • Habitat clothing (provided by Habitat) 

Other Information: Speaker’s Bureau volunteers will receive annual training both on Habitat principles and how to use equipment necessary to do presentations (i.e. laptop and projector, Power Point, etc.).  Then they will be asked to sign up for various needs to speak to both large and small groups and help with Public Relations events (home shows, volunteer fairs, etc.).  Speaker’s Bureau volunteers will be provided with Habitat clothing (i.e. Polo shirt) so that they have a uniform and professional look when out in the public representing Habitat.
