ReStore

ReStore Volunteers

The Habitat ReStore is located at 3000 E. College Ave. Appleton.  Donations of new & gently used building materials are accepted at ReStore and then sold to the general public.  All money raised goes into building homes with Habitat RIGHT HERE in the Fox Cities Area.  Volunteers work in a variety of positions and ReStore and essentially their volunteer time equates to money raised to build homes.  

Cashier

  • Effectively operate the cash register and
  • Process credit card sales
  • Answer calls
  • During down-time the cashier will help with:
    • Pricing
    • Stocking
    • Cleaning donated items

Floor Personnel

  • Help customers find product
  • Help to stock shelves
  • Assist with pricing
  • Assist customers with loading merchandise in or out of vehicle

Warehouse Personnel

  • Help with loading and unloading customers vehicles
  • Help with loading and unloading ReStore truck
  • Help to make space in back warehouse
  • Establish/move racking
  • Take in donations
  • Stock shelves inside store

Truck Drivers

  • Be familiar with the ReStore’s donation guidelines so that only acceptable items will be picked up.
  • Determine most gas efficient route
  • Drive to assigned locations to pick up merchandise being donated to the ReStore
  • Drive to assigned locations to deliver merchandise that has been purchased at the ReStore
  • Collect money for pickups or deliveries and turn it in to the ReStore.
  • Must be able to tell a customer, “No, we can’t take that, it doesn’t meet our requirements.” Any questions, complaints or comments can be directed to the Resource Coordinator.
  • Drive to deconstruction location so that harvested items can be brought to ReStore or warehouse
  • Bring Recycling to correct location (paper to landfill, metal to Goldin)
  • Bring items from ReStore to Warehouse or Vice Versa

Truck Driver Assistants

  • Assist Driver with loading product onto or off of the truck
  • Be responsible for any phone operations while truck in en route
  • You are the truck driver’s right hand man

Deconstruction

  • We invite any people who are 18 years of age or older to come play with us!
  • Partial to complete demolition of a structure in order to harvest items for resale.
  • Carpentry/construction experience is helpful, but not necessary.
  • ReStore will provide any necessary tools.

Office Assistant

  • Must be able to type accurately.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Access
  • Must be able to follow written and verbal instruction well
  • Must be able to work independently
  • Phone etiquette is a plus
  • Filing is necessary
