The Habitat office is a busy place and lots of work happens there!  Volunteers with receptionist and computer skills are needed to work weekly on specific projects in the Habitat office.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Habitat office procedures
  • Basic and sometimes advanced computer skills (data entry, letter writing, etc.)
  • Basic knowledge of or the ability to learn various computer programs (Word, Excel, Access/Key Stone database, etc.)
  • Ability to greet and care for visitors if Administrative Assistant is unavailable
  • Friendly and supportive
  • Ability to prioritize work in order to be most efficient
  • Work well with other Habitat staff to complete projects in a timely and professional manner

Tools to be used by Office Volunteers include:

  • Reception/volunteer area desk and computer (back area of reception desk)

  • Folders with projects (each office volunteer has their own folder with their specific information and projects inside)

Other Information: Office volunteers typically volunteer for one shift per week at a specific time (i.e. Mondays from 1-3pm).  They typically will be given one or several specific tasks that they are responsible for week after week (ongoing tasks).  For example, one office volunteer might be responsible for entering volunteer records when a worksite is finished.  Another might take care of writing all thank you letters to donors.  Training is provided and Carrie (Adm. Asst.) will oversee office volunteers and provide them with meaningful work and answer any questions they might have.
