Driving Crew

In order to ensure that our worksites are ready for volunteer crews, we need drivers and assistants committed to helping prepare construction sites.

Brief Description: Habitat has small teams of 2 who do driving projects on a regular basis (Monday and Wednesday crews).  These teams provide support to the Project Manager (Jody Harkness) to prep worksites, pick up materials and donations to ensure that worksites are ready for volunteers on construction workdays (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays).
Responsibilities & Qualifications

  • Clean driving record (required for both drivers and assistants)
  • Ability to drive Habitat vehicles (typically pick up trucks, sometimes pulling trailers) and occasionally  other, larger vehicles (Habitat ReStore trucks)
  • Good common sense
  • Ability to lift approximately 50 pounds
  • Good physical condition (this is a physically demanding volunteer position)

Tools to be used by Drivers & Driving Assistants include:

  • Habitat vehicles (trucks & trailers)

Other Information: We currently have 2 driving crews – one on Mondays and one on Wednesdays.  These volunteers receive their instruction from Jody Harkness, Project Manager and assist with moving materials as necessary, picking up donations and paid orders and generally preparing worksites for volunteer construction workdays (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays).
