Green Building

In addition to building affordable energy-efficient homes, Fox Cities Habitat is expanding our commitment to green building. All of Habitat’s homes are certified as “Green Built Homes.” This certification is a national award winning green building initiative that reviews and certifies new homes and remodeling projects that meet sustainable building and energy standards.

As of 2009, Fox Cities habitat homes ranked 57% above Energy Star Standards.
Also as of 2009, through a partnership with We Energies, homes are equipped with solar applications powering either a hot water heater or a photovoltaic electrical generating system. A solar hot water system can provide up to 70% of a families hot water needs while a photovoltaic system can provide a home with up to 25% of its electrical needs.
