The Greater Fox Cities Area Habitat for Humanity will begin construction on its 118th house very shortly, but this home will be the first house completely sponsored by the Habitat ReStore. To commemorate the event, there will be a special groundbreaking ceremony on Monday August 3rd at 3:30PM at 420 West Foster Street in Appleton. The house will become the home to Alan Peterson, and his four-year-old daughter, Hope.
Alan has dealt with various obstacles throughout his life, including his hearing impairment. The hardworking single parent is overcoming his disability in a big way by partnering with the Greater Fox Cities Area Habitat for Humanity and building his first home.
“Because of Habitat I can now afford a home of my own. This will be my first house…and I am looking forward to building my own home,” said Alan. Currently living with his parent, Alan and Hope will have room to grow a garden and Hope will have a place to ride her bike.
Hope, who is also hearing impaired has an infectious giggle and enjoys playing and watching movies. Being a single dad raising a little girl, Alan is doing his very best to raise an energetic little girl; their new home will be one more way he can provide for his daughter.
