The Greater Fox Cities Area Habitat for Humanity was founded in 1993 by a dedicated group of citizens who were concerned about the lack of affordable housing options in the Fox Cities Area. This core group began hosting meetings in a Menasha church and there has been no looking back since.
The area we serve has significantly increased since we began holding meetings in that church basement. Originally our affiliate served only Neenah and Menasha. We quickly expanded our area to include the entire Appleton metro area in the late 1990's. By the early part of the 2000's we had expanded our service area to include all of Calumet County (including the between the lakes area), all of Outagamie County, Northern Winnebago County, and even areas in Waupaca.
In the first few years of our organization's history, we typically only built one or two houses a year (which is average of most Habitat affiliates). Since that time, we have truly been blessed with the support of wonderful volunteers, gracious donors, and a welcoming community who has really embraced our mission.
We currently build between 12-15 homes a year and are continually looking to grow our efforts. The biggest need we have right now is for financial contributions. The average Habitat home in the Fox Cities costs around $80,000 to build. To further our mission, expand our affliate and help more local families, please consider donating to Habitat.
